Based on the book "Gabriela, Cravo e Canela" by Jorge Amado - the source for the Brazilian soap starred by Sônia Braga in 1975. In this remake, Juliana Paes plays Gabriela, a young "retirante" with an astonishing beauty and a gentle smile that flees to Ilhéus, a close-minded town ruled by rude colonels, to work as a cook for the local bar.
