Sami, an asylum-seeker from Syria arrives in Britain and finds himself living with a family in Dorking, Surrey. Over the next few months, while Sami waits for his application to be processed, he learns more than he expected about the people he's living with, himself, and his own family somewhere in Europe.

Episode 1

Six months of waiting for a decision, and Sami's good-humoured patience is starting to wear very thin. A family day out in the Surrey Hills leads to departures and frustration which trigger a confrontation and a heated exchange at a 3-star hotel. If Peter can't save the day, Sami will lose his asylum claim.

All except John, who can't wait to see his dad for the first time in years.
