1938. Commissioner Edward Popielski is thrown out of the Lviv police. At the moment he has to work as a Latin language tutor. His minor son Jerzyk and cousin Leokadia TchĂłrznicka are also forced to lower their standard of living. Meanwhile, astrologer Luba Bajdykowa is murdered in the city. At the victim, the police find Hebrew characters arranged in a strange code. Soon Popielski will be needed again. And it plays a double role.
