Die Sendungen über die Faszination unserer Erde und des Weltalls lockte weltweit über 500 Millionen Zuschauer vor die TV-Geräte und konnte sich einen Emmy Award sichern. Im Frühjahr 2014 holt der National Geographic Channel mit Hilfe von Carl Sagans Original-Team die Kultreihe auf die Bildschirme zurück: Gemeinsam mit Ann Druyan, Steven Soter sowie Hollywood-Schauspieler Seth MacFarlane produziert der Sender eine wieder 13 Teile umfassende Reihe, die atemberaubende Weltall-Aufnahmen mit wissenswerten Fakten und Drama-Elementen verbindet – und dies mit modernsten Film- und Erzähltechniken. Die Neuauflage UNSER KOSMOS: DIE REISE GEHT WEITER wird präsentiert vom weltweit renommierten Astrophysiker Neil deGrasse Tyson, der die Rolle des 1996 verstorbenen Sagan übernimmt.
