We catch up with Bruce, the boarding schoolboy who was filmed, aged seven, missing his daddy. Growing up he longed to be a missionary in Africa but chose a teaching career instead. As retirement looms, he reflects on his life and work. We also pick up with Jackie who, at 56, was fighting cuts to her disability benefits as well as overcoming a series of family tragedies. Finally, we meet with children's librarian Lynn, who we'd previously seen battling a life-threatening brain condition.

Yet he surprised viewers in 42 Up when he reappeared as a Liberal Democrat councillor in Hackney. We catch up on the most recent chapter of Neil's extraordinary life.
