Wettbewerber aus allen Teilen der USA messen sich in dieser Serie in der Kunst des Destillierens. Beim Schnapsbrennen schauen den Kandidaten erfahrene Profis auf die Finger. Tim Smith, Mark Ramsey und „Digger“ Manes haben das Handwerk in den amerikanischen Südstaaten gelernt, dort gibt jede Generation ihr Wissen nach alter Tradition an die nächste weiter. Die waschechten „Moonshiner“ kennen alle Tricks - ihnen kann man kein X für ein U vormachen. Werden die Anwärter den Ansprüchen gerecht? Welche Apparaturen braucht man, um hochprozentigen Alkohol herzustellen? Worauf muss man beim Ansetzen der Maische achten und welche Zutaten verleihen dem Schnaps ein wohlschmeckendes Aroma? Die Teilnehmer der Challenge müssen diverse Prüfungen meistern. Der Sieger wird mit dem Prädikat „Master Distiller“ ausgezeichnet.
