Donnerstag, 24. Oktober 1929: Die New Yorker Börse bricht zusammen und stürzt das Land in die größte wirtschaftliche Krise seiner Geschichte. Die „Goldenen Zwanziger“ gehen abrupt zu Ende. Es ist der Beginn einer weltweiten Wirtschaftskrise, die schon wenige Monate später ihren Anfang finden wird. Der Film zeigt, wie es zu diesem Börsencrash kam und analysiert detailliert die Umstände, die dann später zur „Großen Depression“ führten. (Text: ZDF)
