Adaptación de la novela de Joseph Conrad, ‘The Secret Agent‘ nos lleva hasta 1886 y sigue a Verloc, un comerciante del Soho que es también agente secreto del gobierno ruso. Muy molestos por el hecho de que Gran Bretaña resguarde a anarquistas violentos, los rusos llegan a acusar a Verloc de poner una bomba que empujará entonces a las fuerzas del orden a actuar. Atrapado entre los rusos y la policía inglesa, Verloc se verá inmerso con su familia en un trágico complot terrorista.
