Uno de los presentadores de noticias más queridos de Nueva York, Mike Henry, dejó aparcada su carrera para pasar más tiempo con su familia y centrarse en su salud después de ser diagnosticado con Parkinson. Ahora, cinco años más tarde, con los niños ocupados en crecer y Mike cada vez más inquieto, puede que haya llegado el momento de volver al trabajo. Su antiguo jefe, Harris Green, que nunca quiso que Mike dejara el trabajo, no deja pasar la oportunidad de volver a contar con él. El truco, como siempre, era hacer creer a Mike que la idea era suya. Tras varios intentos fallidos, la familia de Mike, desesperada por verle fuera de la casa, finalmente logra que se "encuentre" con Green. Ahora su plan está en marcha. Volverá a compaginar la casa, la familia y el trabajo, como en los viejos tiempos, sólo que mejor.
