Una de las referencias bibliográficas más famosas de todos los tiempos, la Guía del Ferrocarril Continental de George Bradshaw, sirve de pauta en esta serie documental. Un total de cinco episodios mostrarán las diferentes rutas europeas que se recogen en esta guía publicada en 1913, que supuso un antes y un después para los turistas británicos de la época eduardiana. Relucientes ciudades cosmopolitas, paisajes alpinos, cálidos mares espumosos y pueblos de lo más pintoresco son algunos de los rincones que Bradshaw describe en su libro, conocido precisamente por despertar el interés de los ciudadanos ingleses por el exotismo de los viajes al extranjero. El presentador Michael Portillo será el encargado de mostrar los rincones más impresionantes descritos en la guía. Con un indiscutible estilo británico -como si de un Phileas Fogg del siglo XXI se tratara-, junto a él descubriremos el lujo de Monte Carlo, los bosques de Hungría, los increíbles paisajes de montaña de Austria e Hungría, las verdes praderas de Holanda y Francia, y toda la magia que despierta una ciudad como Berlín.
