Top Gear è più di uno show con recensioni dei nuovi modelli di auto. Non è uno show solo per drogati di benzina, come dimostra il grande seguito riscosso tra uomini e donne con poco o nullo interesse per le auto. Ciò è dovuto all'irriverente approccio verso i motori che ha questo show, allo humour e all'impagabile alchimia tra i presentatori del programma. 350 milioni di spettatori in tutto il mondo non possono sbagliarsi. I presentatori sono Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond (soprannominato Hamster), James May (soprannominato Captain Slow) e partecipa anche The Stig, un anonimo pilota che effettua i test in pista sul quale Jeremy narra innumerevoli leggende.
