Il titolo originale della serie è "Dastardly and Muttley in their flying machines" mentre in Italia è conosciuta come "Lo squadrone avvoltoi". Direttamente derivata dalla già famosa "Wacky Races" in cui Dick Dastardly e Muttley sono fra i protagonisti, è affiancata da due mini-serie (5 minuti) di cartoni: Magnificent Muttley (in cui Muttley in ogni puntata sogna di essere un eroe diverso), Wing Dings (brevi scatch comici sul tema della serie principale).
