Aubrey drives a load of 'Doggy Dins' dog food from Carmarthen to Hull, and Dan drives a load of 'Bona Fido' dog food from Hull to Carmarthen. They soon find - or rather don't find - that they have more in common than they think.

With his abnormal load of dogfood safely delivered from Hull to Carmarthen, Dan spends the evening there furthering his relationship with the warm and sensuous 'Myfanwy'. Aubrey, having transported 40,000 tins of 'Doggy Dins' - and not one dented - from Carmarthen to Hull, discovers that the passion he has for his new-found friend, Helen, is almost as great as his desire to become a winning contestant on Mastermind.

Masquerading as the alluring 'Myfanwy', Aubrey's wife, Gwyneth, tells Dan (who claims to be a driver of important - sometimes secret - 'abnormal' loads), that she is about to broaden her mind. Meanwhile, Dan's wife, Helen, is doing quite well passing herself off as an actress to Aubrey (who is pretending to be an MP but who is, in fact, likeDan, a dogfood lorry driver and who has a determination to get on Mastermind and win). But all is not as simple as it seems.
