Michiru Kita é uma garota especial que possui olhos de Shinigami, que permite a ela ver um anel escuro ao redor do pescoço de uma pessoa. E esse anel simboliza a morte iminente da pessoa. Uma vez que estão marcados para morrer, uma linha cinza, que é invisível para pessoas normais, aparece em seu pescoço, e uma vez que o anel fica completamente preto, a pessoa morre. Chika Akatsuki e Shito Tachibana, dois garotos de sua classe, têm anéis negros ao redor de seus pescoços, mas para sua surpresa, eles ainda não estão mortos. É revelado que após um trágico acidente os dois garotos fizeram um trato com um escritório de empréstimo secreto chamado Zombie-Loan. Em troca de mantê-los vivos, os dois têm que caçar zumbis para quitar o empréstimo. Quando Michiru se envolve com eles, ela descobre que sua vida acaba de se tornar mais complicada.

Chika runs into an old acquaintance, Reiichirou Shiba. Shiba then helps Chika and Michiru out of a jam. Shiba follows them back to the Z-Loan office where problems occur. A new addition to the office is also introduced that will help with a upcoming job.
