Série de anime baseada na franquia de vídeo game homônima produzida pela Sega.
O enredo conta a história de Akira (um habilidoso lutador de Hakkyoku Ken) viajando pelo mundo, porque quer recuperar o dom de ver as 8 estrelas que podem ser vistas de dia - alusão à reconhecer um bom lutador quando conhece um. Ao longo da história, ele conhece todos os outros Virtua Fighters e tornam-se todos amigos.
