Na década de 60 o mundo se voltava para a revolução musical e comportamental gerado pelo sucesso da banda inglesa The Beatles. Nos EUA, o fenômeno alastrava-se de maneira incontrolável e gerava uma febre sem precedentes. Todos os adolescentes queriam montar uma banda. Um deles seria o grupo The Monkees, com quatro integrantes. Mike é o líder, um pouco mais sério do que os outros. Seu companheiro Peter é meio boboca, atrapalhado e desligado. Já Micky é maluco, careteiro e cheio de esquisitices. E Davy, que completa o time, é baixinho, mas o queridinho das garotas, pelas quais se apaixona diariamente. Eles dividem um apartamento e utilizam métodos surreais para resolverem seus problemas. As situações em que se envolvem são totalmente non sense. O relacionamento entre eles e o restante da humanidade é irreverente, caótico, com diálogos repletos de piadas disparadas num ritmo vertiginoso. E tudo gira em torno da música. Do som dos anos 60.
