O ano é FC 0059. FC (Future Century). Todos os lados vivem pacificamente, cada um sendo colônia de uma nação diferente. Temos assim a Neo Japão, Neo México, entre outras. Para decidir quem governará as Neo Nações foi criado um torneio entre os Gundams, que é realizado de 4 em 4 anos. O termo MS (Mobile Suit) foi trocado por MF (Mobile Fighter) pois os Gundam agora são construídos com o objetivo único de lutar.
A aparente paz é quebrada quando o cientista do Neo Japão responsável pelo projeto G Gundam é sequestrado juntamente com seu filho. Assim o Neo Japão(Neo Japan) envia o Shining Gundam pilotado por Domon Kasshu. Na série ele enfrenta o Master Gundam e o Devil Gundam.
