Beyond the Darklands is a true crime series with each episode focusing on a certain criminal or crime.The series examines cases of New Zealand's worst and most well-known offenders and offender types. Through these individuals and their emotional journeys, it looks at their development, traits and key turning points where some kind of intervention or choices may have – or did change, the course of their lives.
