Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Eris ("the Service"), operated at eris.tv, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Account Registration
To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information.
- Maintain the security of your password and account.
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
Subscriptions and Payments
Eris offers free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions ("Guardian" plans) are processed through Stripe.
- Billing: Guardian subscriptions are billed monthly or annually depending on your chosen plan, or as a one-time payment for Eternal Guardian (lifetime) plans. Prices are displayed at the time of purchase and include applicable taxes.
- Auto-Renewal: Monthly and annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal accessible from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
- Refunds: Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 14 days of a charge for consideration. Lifetime plans are non-refundable after 14 days.
- Price Changes: We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price change takes effect on their account.
User-Generated Content
You may create content on the Service, including trivia packs, reviews, and ratings ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting User Content, you grant Eris a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and make available your User Content as part of the Service.

Content Sources and Attribution
Eris aggregates publicly available television and film data from third-party sources. TVMaze is our primary source for television shows; TheTVDB is our source for films, and additionally supplies episode, artwork and translation data for shows. Titles, descriptions, cast information, episode data, and related metadata are sourced from these services.
Eris does not claim ownership of this third-party content. All show and movie names, images, and descriptions belong to their respective owners. Eris provides this information for informational and personal tracking purposes under fair use principles.

Artwork and Promotional Images
Eris displays poster, background and other promotional artwork alongside the titles in its catalogue, together with photographs of the people credited on them.
This artwork is not owned by Eris, and Eris claims no rights in it. It is created and owned by the studios, producers, distributors and other rights holders responsible for the titles it depicts. Eris asserts no copyright, trademark or other ownership over any poster, background or promotional image shown on the Service, and nothing here grants you a licence to use it. All rights remain with the respective rights holders.
We receive this artwork from third-party data providers, including TheTVDB. Those providers supply the images but do not own them, and do not grant a licence to them on the rights holder's behalf. So that pages load quickly and images can be resized and converted to modern formats, copies are served from our own infrastructure rather than linked from the provider. That is a technical arrangement and does not change who owns the artwork.
Artwork is shown for identification and reference — so that you can recognise a title, find your way around the catalogue, and keep track of what you have watched. It is not sold, licensed, or offered for download, and it is not used to suggest any endorsement of or association with Eris.
If you hold rights in an image and want it removed, email us at [email protected], identifying the title and the image concerned. We will remove it and prevent it from being restored by a later data refresh. A formal notice is not required for us to act; our full notice-and-takedown procedure is set out in the Copyright Policy.

Music in trivia
Some trivia rounds play a short preview of a song. The audio and the cover art come from Deezer and from Apple's iTunes Search API, and they are streamed to you directly from those companies. Eris does not host, store or copy any music. We do not own it.
Every preview is shown with a link to the full track on the provider's own service, and previews that come from Apple carry the note Provided courtesy of iTunes. Deezer asks us to pass on one of its conditions: previews from Deezer are for your own personal listening.
If a preview will not play, Eris records the failure automatically and re-checks the track. A track that cannot be played from any provider is left out of new games until it plays again.
Song titles, artist names and cover art belong to their respective rights holders. Eris is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Deezer or Apple. If you hold rights in a recording and want it removed, write to [email protected] and we will remove it promptly.

Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service without written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
- Distribute malware, spam, or any harmful or disruptive content.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to compete with Eris or build a substantially similar service.
Intellectual Property
The Eris name, logo, visual design, user interface, and underlying code are owned by Eris and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on any part of the Service without our explicit written permission.

Termination
By you: You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Account deletion removes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
By Eris: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. We will attempt to notify you before termination where practical. If your paid account is terminated by Eris without cause, you will receive a pro-rated refund for any remaining subscription period.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland and applicable European Union regulations. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the competent courts of Poland.
