He looks at boys' and girls' adventure comics of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, from Dan Dare, Captain Hurricane and Roy of the Rovers to the distressed damsels of Bunty, Girl and School Friend. Fans such as cartoonists Posy Simmonds and Gerald Scarfe, writers Max Hastings and Jacqueline Wilson and comedian Frank Skinner reveal their favourite comics characters.
