The Nineteenth Hole

Donning flat cap and long-johns, Eric Sykes was cast in this sitcom as the harassed secretary to Prince's Hill Golf Club, located on a private estate, an establishment steeped in chauvinism, ethnic prejudice, homophobia, snobbery and nationalism, and drowning in desperate financial straits. Most of the action took place in the bar (which, in golfing parlance, is the 19th hole).
